Call for Submissions for NARRTC's Knowledge Translation (KT) Activity Award (2012)

The NARRTC KT and Training Committee is pleased to put out a call for KT case descriptions for the 2nd annual KT Activity Award. The award was established to encourage NIDRR grantees to share their KT experiences and help “grow” KT research and practice within our community.

The submission deadline is March 1, 2012. The submissions will be reviewed by five committee members and scored according to criteria listed below. Case descriptions selected for the award will be featured on the NARRTC website and will receive a $100 honorarium and a plaque. 2-3 awards will be made.

KT Case Description Guidelines:

Length: 3-5 pages, double-spaced. 1000 words maximum, exclusive of tables and figures. The activity described must be associated with a NIDRR-sponsored project.

Required sections and weighting:

Introduction (5 %)
Provide background and the context for your KT activity. Describe its relevance across disability populations.

Statement of the Problem (10%)
Describe the KT challenge and how your KT activity addresses it.

End-User Engagement (25%)
Discuss how knowledge end users were involved in (at least one of the following):
the identification of knowledge to be translated;
developing the knowledge translation approach/strategy;
delivering the knowledge translation approach/strategy.

Activity Description (20%)
Identify and describe the type of KT activity (e.g. systematic review of the literature, knowledge tailoring, knowledge implementation etc.) the case presents and the KT methods it uses. Differentiate the activity from dissemination.

Assessment (20%)
Provide evidence for the impact of the KT activity or, in the case of activities in progress, planning for assessment of impact.

Lessons Learned (20%)
Discuss what was successful and/or less than successful in developing and implementing the KT activity. Focus specifically on information that might be of use to fellow NIDRR grantees as they compose their own KT efforts.

Additional Criteria:

Winners must be NARRTC members. If a winner is not a member at the time of application, he or she must become a member before receiving the award. (See the By-laws and How to Join for membership criteria.)

Please send an electronic copy of the KT activity case description to Manon Schladen, the Chair of the NARRTC KT and Training Committee. If you have any questions you may also contact her at manon.schladen@medstar.net.

On behalf of the NARRTC Executive Committee we want to thank NIDRR for sponsoring rehabilitation research and all of those who take the time to consider this opportunity and submit a case description.

Sincerely,
